THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 196 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 6 COUNTIES IN WESTERN TEXAS BORDEN GLASSCOCK HOWARD MITCHELL REAGAN SCURRY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BIG LAKE, BIG SPRING, COLORADO CITY, GAIL, GARDEN CITY, AND SNYDER.

Description

At 327 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Loraine, or near Colorado City, moving east at 30 mph.
Hazard: Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Trained weather spotters.
Impact: People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Big Spring, Snyder, Colorado City, Coahoma, Loraine, Fluvanna, Sand Springs, Colorado City Airport, J B Thomas Reservoir, Lake Colorado City, Lake Colorado City State Park, Inadale, Champion Creek Reservoir, Luther, Westbrook, Vincent, Randalls Corner, Hermleigh, Winston Field, and Cuthbert. This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 179 and 228.

Action Recommandée

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This storm is producing large hail. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.

The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a Dust Advisory for Northwestern Glasscock County in western Texa
S: Ector County in western Texa
S: Southeastern Andrews County in western Texa
S: Midland County in western Texa
S: Martin County in western Texa
S: Howard County in western Texa
S: Until 345 PM CDT. At 210 PM CDT, a wall of dust was along a cold front extending from 6 miles northwest of Luther to 20 miles west of Lenorah to near Goldsmith, moving south at 25 mph.
Hazard: Less than two miles visibility with strong wind in excess of 50 mph.

Impact: Hazardous travel. This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 93 and 190. Locations impacted include Midland, Odessa, Big Spring, Greenwood, Stanton, Coahoma, Goldsmith, Forsan, Sand Springs, Lomax, Lenorah, Midland International Air and Space Port, Luther, West Odessa, Cotton Flat, Midland Airpark, Penwell, Big Spring McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark, Knott, and Stanton Municipal Aiport.

Action Recommandée

Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Strong to severe thunderstorms are also possible behind this wall of dust.
